This September the Parenting Center is going through some changes.

·        This year I will no longer be communicating through email.  The Sprucecourt Family Literacy & Parenting Center Blog at www.sprucecourtparentingcenter.blogspot.ca will have up to the minute updates. Check it out!
·        The Center is moving from room 108 to room 103.  To accommodate the move, the center will be closed for two days, allowing toys to be packed up, moved and unpacked.  As soon as I have the dates that the center will be closed, I will post them on the blog.
·        Leigh, the Toronto Public Librarian from the Parliament Branch has moved to a new location and, as of now, we don’t have a new Children’s Librarian coming to do Music & Story Time with us.  This is something that I hope to continue in the future and am working towards that goal.  If you know of anybody who is interested in telling stories at the Center once or twice a month, please encourage them to drop in and talk to me.
·        Chaz, our Aboriginal Story teller, has also moved away and is no longer able to volunteer her time.  I am also working to find us a new Aboriginal Story Teller. Again, if you know of an Aboriginal Storyteller who is interested in volunteering at the Center once or twice a month, please encourage them to drop in and talk to me.
·        The Hot Lunch program is being reviewed by the TDSB.  As soon as I know what the outcome of the review is, I will post it.
·        Because of all the changes I do not have a daily schedule established.  Hopefully, I will have it finalized by the beginning of October.  However, Music and Story Time will happen daily at 11:00AM and 3:00PM.

The Parenting Center has a strong interest to incorporating events suggested by parents into our monthly schedule.  I have fond memories of our “Bread & Cheese Day”.  The Brie was amazing.  Please feel free to come and chat with me about your ideas.  With a little luck we can make your suggestions into a reality!

Whew! What a month September has turned out to be.  Please talk to me if you have any question and remember to check the blog regularly to keep up to date.
